Dear Captain Kelly,

Please excuse me, Sir. I have caught a number of news reports and showing you both, and especially dear Congresswoman Gabby (if I may?). Progress is remarkable and indeed miraculous.

Mrs. Kelly is emerging as an historic figure. You great support, Sir has provided the turn upwards. The utter focus and discipline of an astronaut commander is playing its part. Congratulations by the way, upon the DFC, if that is what was presented you at The White House! Lindbergh had that also!!

Gabby probably has 100% votes for continuing in Congress. If she, (with you) could use her star-power to emulate President Reagan’s press secretary, James Brady, who engineered the Brady Law. He was and is a staunch Republican, also!

Please, seriously consider the information on page two.

Ultimately, this simple recasting of the one of the most costly issues facing the Great Democracy will bring great Gabby to closure.

America’s love of her could bring peace to countless Americans in the future.

Please take this seriously, Captain Kelly. I have been judged at the highest US peer review level, and my deep regard of America is well known.

Letter to America – Congresswoman Giffords

The Honourable Representative Gabrielle Giffords, BA, Masters Cornell U.

Dear Congresswoman Giffords!

I caught a nice picture of you with US Navy captain and astronaut Mark Kelly, DFC. You both look so great!

I feel qualified to contact you, a busy congresswoman, because I was honoured by the ‘Extraordinary Capacity’ visa, limited to 300 or so folk worldwide, and whose research was judged able to help lift the nation, in some fundamental way.

You are clearly looking forward to a long and illustrious career on Capitol Hill. As a person with a great many American friends, and a true friend of the USA, may I take this moment to just present some thinking to you, for a safer America.

It is not ideal, but it does appear that for the great mass of Americans, they do indeed wish to confidently keep firearms. However, they are cannot be confident when the US Supreme Court splits 5-4 on this.

Might I then suggest a fresh route: another constitutional amendment. One which finally – and clearly – would guarantee the right of Americans to bear arms.
That should satisfy completely one side of the debate.

I have a unique perspective here, because when young I walked across the USA, alone and without money, and from Tierra del Fuego. {Gabby, I was lucky enough to get the record!} Therefore, I know the hopes and fears of the many thousands of fine folk in the Great Democracy.

For them, gun ownership was never a problem, as stated over many a breakfast table. What decidedly was, however, was the fear of people travelling on the road who might (or not) have a weapon, legal (or not).

This strongly suggests that licensing, issued and checked appropriately by a relevant agency, as a necessary requirement, and a campaign running parallel to the constitutional amendment process.
Any person moving out and beyond their property, with a weapon, can be stopped by an officer of the law, at any time. There should be no legal hindrance of the police officers right to search anyone they suspect. They could demand to see such a travelling license for any weapon.
That should satisfy the other side of the debate, should it not?

Worth a thought then most honoured American leader!

There is surely more human tragedy down any street than we can ever cope with; so we don’t take it in.
History and life are largely ‘airbrushed’ versions of reality. Is this not some sort of protection, a step back from horror? For example, such as the tomb of the unknown soldier, or how about the stomach churning way we get meat?
A comfortable airbrushing wash across perfectly white paper is but a comfortable delusion.

Is Corruption Everywhere?

Why is corruption so constant, so widespread? Is it perhaps the Darwinian make-up of Humanity in general? Sort of getting an edge. Whatever we think we can get away, might be one of the bigger limiting factors.

He suggested that Bill Gates would “be a broader guy if he’d dropped acid once.”

And marijuana is a famous medicine to help control nausea and pain after an operation, etc. So why’s a medical issue treated as criminal?
The so called War on Drugs has cost billions, and taken countless lives; ruined millions of young people in prisons full to bursting and destabilized whole nations. Result: illegal drug use is now a normal part of the urban landscape.

ANSWER
If you want to stop this veracious and deadly nonsense, All drug gang killers and blackmailers et al could be defanged in a single afternoon, and you don’t even need to legalize the stuff. Just give addicts their dope free at any medical centre, but it must be consumed on the premises.

What a Tenacious Thing is Hatred

I have seen some television from WGBH Boston. It was on US civil rights history. Edgar Hoover, founder of the FBI, maintained what was called a “pathological hatred”, along with countless other Americans. This was not withstanding that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age 34. Did they not read just about everything he ever said?

Nothing it seems made a jot of difference. Nothing could get through their collective skull that this was a good man. And this helped create at atmosphere whereby an escaped prisoner was ‘inspired’ to shoot him, and from a toilet window. The killer had simply bought an assassin’s rifle with a handy telescopic sight that showed Dr. King’s head at 7 x normal size.

Where are all these racists today? Do they ever admit that they were wrong to the point of being evil? That was some mistake, after all. Should people not be responsible for their thinking, especially when it created such a lethal atmosphere?

The Nawab of Pataudi

I was saddened to learn of the passing on of the The Nawab of Pataudi. An astonishing sporting hero and long time captain of the Indian cricket team. The Nawab faced the faster bowlers in the world (back in the 60s it was the West Indies) BUT he only had one good eye! It seems he saw two balls, but would choose to hit “the inside one.”
