There is surely more human tragedy down any street than we can ever cope with; so we don’t take it in.
History and life are largely ‘airbrushed’ versions of reality. Is this not some sort of protection, a step back from horror? For example, such as the tomb of the unknown soldier, or how about the stomach churning way we get meat?
A comfortable airbrushing wash across perfectly white paper is but a comfortable delusion.
